Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.
The Dutchman, who has less than three months on his current Liverpool deal recently revealed that he is eager to remain at the club.
“Before the end of the season, there’s going to be news, “the Dutchman said after Liverpool’s recent game against Newcastle United.
“As long as I’m full committed and have my full focus on the task ahead, and I love the club, that’s the main thing.
That’s who I am”.
However, a new report from Anfield Watch claims that he is wanted by Ligue 1 giants PSG.
Van Dijk recently sent Liverpool fans in panic mood when he was spotted deep in discussion with the club’s sporting director shortly after Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League clash with PSG at Anfield.
While it was thought that the duo were in discussion over a potential move to Parc des Princes, reports from France revealed that contract discussions wasn’t on the agenda of the chance meeting at Anfield.
PSG even responded to queries over what Van Dijk, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and sporting director Luis Campos were discussing in the stadium tunnel last Wednesday, with the club’s director of Press and Media Relations for PSG, Pascal Ferre, telling 365Scores:
“I don’t understand why this video has caused such a huge controversy on social media.
“The conversation between Van Dijk, the club president, and also the sporting director was completely natural and spontaneous.”
“Our president did not discuss any negotiations to sign the player, and everything rumoured about this is false.”
“The discussion was friendly, and the club president has the utmost respect for Van Dijk.”
However, Anfield Watch are now claiming that PSG is indeed keen on signing Van Dijk and are willing to offer him a hefty €100million salary.
“Van Dijk is a prime target for the French side,” the report said.
“Though the video circling social media last week showing the Liverpool skipper with PSG Sporting Director Luis Campos was purely coincidental, Anfield Watch understands the runaway Ligue 1 leaders are in talks with the Dutchman’s agent.
A pre-tax offer of €80million spread over two years, with a potential third season in the French capital, is on the table along with a hefty signing bonus taking the initial proposal to €100million.”
